Wedding Wednesday! Where should we go for pictures? Part 2. {NYC Wedding Photographer}

This is a continuation of this post from last week! These are all great locations around NYC for wedding, engagement, elopement, family or couples photography sessions!

Location: Brooklyn Bridge Park
Permit Needed:
For wedding photos, a permit is only required for groups of 20 or more, or if any obtrusive equipment other than handheld cameras will be used.

I love this park! The views of Manhattan, Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge make for an amazing backdrop. If you’re visiting NYC and want to do a shoot featuring some of the most iconic views of the city, this is the place!

Location: New York Public Library and Bryant Park, 5th Avenue and 42nd Street.
Permit Needed: Yes (Library) and Yes (Bryant Park)
. At Bryant Park, the wedding photography permit is free. At the Library, wedding photography is not specifically mentioned in the rules, and I have photographed a few engagement sessions in and around the Library and Bryant Park without anyone stopping me, but it might be a different story with a bride and groom and bridal party. When in doubt, get a permit!

Location: Prospect Park, Brooklyn
Permit Needed: Yes, but only for a specific private location, commercial shoots, or groups over 20 people.

This is a beautiful park, and it’s far enough from Manhattan that it almost doesn’t feel like New York City! There are great rolling hills, lots of wooded areas, and beautiful natural backdrops.

Location: Grand Central Station, 42nd Street, between Madison and Lexington
Permit Needed: No
, however, if you’ll be bringing in a large bridal party, or using a tripod, and you would rather keep it on the safe side and not be asked to leave, you can obtain a permit.

This is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city, inside and out! This is always a good one to have in the back of your mind in case it rains.
