Lingerie Looks

Sheer tops and lingerie-inspired styles have been strutting up and down the runways for a few seasons now. The look has started to make its way into the mainstream, bringing bustier tops and other not-so-lady-like looks along with it. Since we talk so much about lingerie here, I thought it would be fun to show you how you can style your boudoir pieces for out-of-the-bedroom looks.
Using Polyvore (sooo much fun, I suggest you give it a try), I created these sets in order to stress that you can’t just throw on a sheer top and your sexiest bra to achieve the desired effect. I recently spotted a girl wearing a bustier tank, super skinny jeans, and sky high heels – the look was a total mess and seemed more like a costume than a dinner-friendly ensemble. If you’re going to be baring a little, you can’t quite bare it all.

This sheer top is balanced by a casual, conservatively-shaped skirt and a lightweight cardigan. Flat sandals ensure you don’t cross over into streetwalker territory.

The bold print on this sheer top will camouflage what’s going on underneath, so playing with a completely contrasting pattern is fun. The animal print will peek out for an unexpected touch. Loose-fitting boyfriend jeans dress the look down, while sky-high platforms in red bring the flirty back into the look.
