InStyle’s Most Beautiful Brides of 2009
In keeping with the end of the year list theme, InStyle featured their picks for 2009’s Most Beautiful Brides (among celebs, that is…in the real world they’d have to be Kamila’s brides). Here they are, starting with my two favorites: Ivanka Trump and Salma Hayek.
I love both of these gowns (custom-made by Vera Wang & Balenciaga, respectively) and their overall style because they aren’t easily placed in 2009. Ten, twenty or thirty years from now, people won’t look at these photos and say, “Oh yeah, check out that dress and her hair, this has got to be the 2000’s.” For me, that’s so important. Timeless. Classic.
These three gowns are equally beautiful for different reasons. Milla Jovovich’s Alice Temperley goddess gown seems to capture her bohemian style. No matter what the current trends, a bride can never go wrong blending her personal style DNA into her wedding gown choice. Khloe Kardashian chose a Vera Wang design that features lots of drama…much like her reality TV persona. Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks looked to the always amazing Carolina Herrera for a chic ruffled and embellished gown, that’s as dashing as the styles she’s used to on set. This effortless blend of a little au courant flavor with a touch of personal flair always works…capturing that moment in time and the bride’s personality all at once.
